Art? / Kunst?

So, I thought I'd try to be a good mother for once and let my kids do some art. Well, as you can see, Talitha has discovered make-up, or where make-up should go (sort of) if her mother had any. Excuse the pjs, she's in a much better mood if I don't make her change unless she wants to.

Ich wollte also abwechslungsweise mal versuchen eine gute Mutter zu sein und meinen Kindern die Gelegenheit zu geben Kunst zu produzieren. Nun, wie ihr sehen könnt, hat Talitha make-up entdeckt, oder wo make-up hin kommen würde (so ungefähr) wenn ihre Mutter welches hätte. Entschuldigt den Schlafanzug, sie hat viel bessere Laune wenn ich sie nicht dazu zwinge sich umzuziehen, es sei denn sie möchte sich umziehen.




Oh, and Talitha also found Winston to be worthy of some make-up.

Oh, und Talitha fand, dass Winston auch etwas make-up wert war.

Mighty tower / Mächtiger Turm

Spencer and Phillip set out to build a tower...first it was to be taller than Phillip, then mommy, the last challenge was daddy. I think they succeeded.

Spencer und Phillip wollten einen Turm bauen...erst sollte er höher werden als Phillip, dann höher als Mami, und Spencer war die letzte Hürde. Ich denke sie waren erfolgreich.

Following this is our December update. I have stuff for January, too, but that'll have to wait as it already is 2am and I need to get to bed. But first good news and then a funny story.
The news: my mom is coming to visit! She's coming on Feb 9th, that's only little over one week away!!!
The funny story: When Phillip came in from the building/playhouse for dinner today, I asked him to go and wash his hands in the bathroom. He obediently left, but when he came back he all of a sudden exclaimed, with a very concerned look on his face: "Oh no, mom!" "Oh no, what now?" I thought. He goes: "I accidentally brushed my teeth!" Daddy: "Well, did you wash your hands?" Phillip: "No." .... I know I do stuff like that. I thought it was old age. Maybe it's genetic! Huh, mom?

Nachfolgend sind unsere Dezemberaktivitaeten. Ich hab auch Sachen fuer Januar, aber das muss warten, da es schon 2 Uhr morgens ist und ich ins Bett muss. Aber zuerst noch gute Nachricht und eine lustige Geschichte.
Die Nachricht: meine mom kommt uns besuchen! Sie kommt am 9. Feb, das ist in nur knapp ueber einer Woche!!!
Die lustige Geschichte: Als Phillip heute vom Gebaeude/Spielhaus zum Abendessen nach Hause kam, bat ich ihn seine Haende im Badezimmer zu waschen. Er dackelte auch gehorsam los, doch als er wiederkam machte er auf einmal ein besorgtes Gesicht und rief: "O nein, Mami!" Und ich dachte, "o nein, was ist jetzt los?" Dann sagte er: "Ich hab versehentlich meine Zaehne geputzt!" Darauf Daddy: "Hast du deine Haende gewaschen?" Phillip: "Nein." ... Ich weiss, dass mir sowas passiert. Ich dachte, das ist das Alter. Vielleicht ist es ja genetisch. Hmh, Mami?

Merry Christmas / Frohe Weihnachten

I figured it was about time to start sending out Christmas cards. I've always had good intentions all the other years...it just never happened. So this year I was determined. Of course I didn't get the picture taken on time, but more like last minute...On a Sunday after church, I rallied the troops and posed them in front of Bob and Deanna's Christmas tree. Sixteen pictures later--thank you Jill!--I thought I had put Jill and everyone else through enough...there just had to be a good one in there. And so I managed the first year of sending out Christmas cards. As I write this, of course, I realize that not everyone who should have, actually received a card...I apologize. It was my first time...still flawed.

Ich dachte, dass es endlich mal an der Zeit waere Weihnachtskarten zu verschicken. Das wollte ich jedes Jahr schon seit laengerem tun...hab's aber nie gemacht (es wurde immer zu spaet). Doch dieses Jahr war ich entschlossen. Natuerlich hab ich's nicht fruehzeitig geschafft ein Bild von uns machen zu lassen, sondern fast zu spaet...An einem Sonntag nach der Kirche, trommelte ich die Truppe zusammen und posierte sie vor Bob und Deannas Weihnachtsbaum. Nach sechzehn Fotos--danke Jill!--dachte ich, dass Jill und alle anderen genug durchgemacht hatten...da musste ja wohl ein gutes Bild dabei sein. Und so schaffte ich es zum ersten mal Weihnachtskarten zu verschicken. Waehrend ich hier so schreibe wird mir aber natuerlich klar, dass nicht alle eine Karte erhalten haben...Es tut mir leid. Es war mein erstes mal...hat noch Fehler.

Phillip's Puzzle

This was the first time Phillip finished a puzzle all by himself! I assume that a lot of kids can do that a lot earlier...but Phillip's mommy, namely me, hasn't been very good about pulling out puzzles and practicing with him. =(

Das war das erste mal, dass Phillip ganz alleine ein Puzzle geschafft hat. Ich nehme mal an, dass viele Kinder sowas viel freuher koennen...aber Phillips Mami, das waere ich, holt nicht oft Puzzle raus um mit ihm zu ueben. =(
